{"id":117625,"date":"2025-04-19T16:07:28","date_gmt":"2025-04-19T15:07:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=117625"},"modified":"2025-04-19T16:07:28","modified_gmt":"2025-04-19T15:07:28","slug":"npf-extradites-man-from-qatar-over-murder-of-lead-city-student","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/npf-extradites-man-from-qatar-over-murder-of-lead-city-student\/","title":{"rendered":"NPF Extradites Man from Qatar Over Murder of Lead City Student"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>By Lizzy Chirkpi<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has successfully completed the extradition of Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, also known as \u201cKillaboi,\u201d from Doha, Qatar, to face charges for the murder of Miss Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The fugitive was returned to Nigeria in the early hours of today, Saturday, April 19, 2025, through collaborative efforts involving the Ministry of Justice, INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB), Force Headquarters Abuja, and the Qatari Judicial Authorities.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>According to a press release issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the extradition followed a petition from the deceased\u2019s family submitted on 29th September 2024. Investigations by INTERPOL NCB Abuja revealed that \u201cthe suspect, Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, murdered Miss Onuwabhagbe, a 21-year-old first-class student of Lead City University, Ibadan, at his residence located at No. 24A Abiola Apooyi Street, Oral Estate, Ajah, Lagos, on 13th July 2023.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The statement noted that after the crime, \u201che fled Nigeria and later released an online video purporting to confess to the act, a deceptive strategy to derail investigative efforts.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Following his declaration as\u00a0 a wanted person by the NPF Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) on 13th October 2023, an INTERPOL Red Notice was issued for his global apprehension.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>He was initially arrested in Freetown, Sierra Leone, on 20th October 2023 under the false identity \u201cKanu Princeton Samuel\u201d but subsequently \u201cescaped custody during a prison break on 26th November 2023 in Freetown.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Further intelligence revealed the suspect&#8217;s continued evasion, traversing West Africa, East Asia, and the Middle East under forged identities before relocating to Doha, Qatar, on 24th January 2025.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Operating under the alias \u201cToure Abdoulaye\u201d with a fraudulent Guinean passport, he secured illegal employment and concealed his identity.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Through robust international cooperation and advanced biometrics, INTERPOL NCB Abuja, in collaboration with INTERPOL NCB Doha, confirmed his identity, leading to his arrest by Qatari authorities in February 2025.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>An official extradition request, processed via the Federal Ministry of Justice, Abuja, was approved by Qatari judicial authorities, leading to his repatriation.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The IGP also commended the collaborative efforts, \u201crecognising the strength in the synergy amongst nations to curb trans-border crimes.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>He extended \u201csincere appreciation to the Honorable Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, the Government of Qatar, INTERPOL NCB Doha, and the Nigerian Embassy in Qatar for their invaluable collaboration in securing the fugitive\u2019s return.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The number one Police officer in the country further assured the public of the force\u2019s commitment to justice, stating that the NPF is dedicated to ensuring that \u201cthe suspect faces diligent prosecution, as part of the NPF\u2019s dedication to justice and the safety of all Nigerians.\u201d<\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Lizzy Chirkpi The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has successfully completed the extradition of Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, also known as \u201cKillaboi,\u201d from Doha, Qatar, to face charges for the murder&hellip;<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":117626,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_lmt_disableupdate":"","_lmt_disable":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[5],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-117625","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.8 -
