Theophilus Danjuma (retd.), has urged Nigerians to defend themselves against bandits and criminals, warning that relying solely on the government for protection is no longer realistic.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Speaking on Saturday at a public event in Takum, Taraba State, Danjuma said his counsel five years ago remains relevant amid the growing wave of insecurity across the country.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>In his words, the recent spate of killings in Benue, Plateau, and other parts of Nigeria had once again validated his concerns.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cThe warning I gave some years ago is still as valid today as it was then. Nigerians must rise and defend themselves.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cWe cannot continue to sit and watch while bandits, terrorists, and criminal gangs massacre our people unchecked,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Danjuma, who hails from Takum, lamented what he described as the government\u2019s inability to provide adequate security, stressing that the time had come for communities to take proactive steps in protecting their lives and properties.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cIt is now very clear that the government alone cannot protect us.
