{"id":118868,"date":"2025-05-17T14:50:14","date_gmt":"2025-05-17T13:50:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=118868"},"modified":"2025-05-17T14:50:14","modified_gmt":"2025-05-17T13:50:14","slug":"fg-world-bank-deliver-2-5mw-solar-plant-to-nda","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/fg-world-bank-deliver-2-5mw-solar-plant-to-nda\/","title":{"rendered":"FG, World Bank Deliver 2.5MW Solar Plant to NDA"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">By Daniel Adaji<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Federal Government, in partnership with the World Bank, has delivered a 2.5 megawatts hybrid solar power plant to the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Jaji, Kaduna State.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Special Adviser, Strategic Communications and Media Relations to the Minister of Power, Bolaji Tunji disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The new facility, commissioned under the Energizing Education Programme Phase II, includes a 600-kilowatt solar photovoltaic component fully funded by the Ministry of Power.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Together, the projects are expected to slash NDA\u2019s dependence on the national grid by half, significantly improving power supply for academic, military, and residential activities.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Major General A.K. Ibrahim, Commandant of the NDA said, \u201cThis project propels us to uphold our legacy as Nigeria\u2019s crown jewel of military excellence. With pride, we celebrate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu\u2019s visionary leadership and the Federal Government\u2019s bold strides in energy security.\u201d<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The hybrid solar plant, implemented by the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), also features nine kilometres of solar-powered streetlights, a renewable energy training centre, and upgraded electrical infrastructure to improve efficiency and security across the campus.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Over 12,000 members of the NDA community are expected to benefit from the transition to clean energy. The academy will now enjoy more reliable electricity to support its military training and academic mandates.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, said the project is in line with the Tinubu administration\u2019s Renewed Hope Agenda.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cPowering the NDA with solar energy fortifies national assets, drives education, security, and sustainability. We\u2019re lighting up Nigeria\u2019s future\u2014one institution at a time,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The REA also trained 20 female cadets in solar energy technology, a move aimed at bridging gender gaps in the renewable energy sector and empowering future leaders.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ibrahim described the development as \u201ca game-changer for Africa\u2019s premier military institution,\u201d and praised Adelabu for his unwavering support, calling the project a testament to collaborative nation-building.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">This initiative also underscores the government\u2019s strategy to leverage innovation, research, and development for national progress.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cLet us make research purposeful. Let us make development intentional.
