{"id":119119,"date":"2025-05-24T18:03:56","date_gmt":"2025-05-24T17:03:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=119119"},"modified":"2025-05-24T18:03:56","modified_gmt":"2025-05-24T17:03:56","slug":"south-east-important-to-pdp-says-saraki-as-committee-meets-enugu-governor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/south-east-important-to-pdp-says-saraki-as-committee-meets-enugu-governor\/","title":{"rendered":"South East important to PDP says Saraki as Committee meets Enugu Governor"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">By Myke Agunwa<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">In a renewed effort to resolve the internal crisis threatening the unity of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the party\u2019s Strategy and Way Forward Committee on Friday met with Enugu State governor, Dr. Peter Mbah and reassured him that the party will address all the grievances from the zone.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The committee comprises of former President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, former Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Seriake Dickson, and former Gombe State Governor, Dr. Ibrahim Dankwambo, Dr. Peter Mbah and others.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The PDP governors constituted and mandated the committee to ensure that there is peace, reconciliation among members to enable the party have a rancour free National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Tuesday.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Two weeks ago, the South East PDP Zonal Executive Council (ZEC) re-nominated former National Youth Leader, Hon. Sunday Udeh-Okoye, to complete the remaining tenure of the National Secretary, Sen. Samuel Anyanwu and in a communique, warned of possible defection if their decision of the zone was not honored.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIn the event that our position is not promptly implemented by the Party, the South East PDP, as a family, will be compelled to reconsider our relationship with the PDP going forward,\u201d the communique stated.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Led by former Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki, the committee met with Enugu State Governor and South East PDP leader, Dr. Peter Mbah which was the first state it visited since it was constituted.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Speaking to newsmen after the closed door meeting, Dr. Saraki said, \u201cWe are members of the PDP Reconciliation and Strategy Committee that was set up recently by the PDP Governors\u2019 Forum to work towards ensuring that our upcoming National Executive Council meeting and also likely convention is rancor-free and works smoothly.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIn line with that, we are here in Enugu State to consult with one of our leaders, Governor Peter Mbah, who is the leader of South East PDP.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThis is the first state we are coming to because we appreciate the importance of the South East in our PDP family. As you all know, the South East has played a key role as the bedrock of the popularity and the strength of our party.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIn recognition of that, we are here to consult with him and first to commend him on the leadership role he has been playing in the party. More importantly also, to commend what he is doing in Enugu State, which is a reflection for Nigerians to see what happens when you have a PDP government.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIn doing that, we discussed how we will ensure that we carry out the assignment given to us and go ahead to have our NEC and our convention. We will have one that is rancor-free and smooth, peaceful and lays the foundation for the PDP that we all are wishing for.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe have had a very good discussion. Frankly, we have had a very, very useful discussion.
