The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Department of State Service (DSS) are set to renew their existing collaboration in the fight against financial crimes.<\/div>\n

This followed a courtesy visit by the Assistant Zonal Director of the EFCC’s Abuja Zonal Directorate, Assistant Commander of the EFCC (ACE) Michael Wetkas, to the FCT Command of the DSS at the weekend.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
During the visit, ACE Wetkas emphasize the critical need for inter-agency cooperation among law enforcement bodies. Having assumed his role in Abuja in March 2025, Wetkas highlighted the DSS as a pivotal security and law enforcement agency in Nigeria, underscoring the importance of reinforcing their pre-existing working relationship.<\/div>\n

“The meeting is for me to introduce myself and my team to you because in the course of this job, we will always be meeting and we need each other always,” Wetkas stated, reiterating the EFCC’s openness to a more profound working relationship with the DSS. He drew upon his past experiences as Zonal Commander in Gombe and Lagos, where he witnessed firsthand the invaluable role of collaboration, particularly in intelligence sharing, between the two agencies.<\/div>\n

Responding to the EFCC’s overture, the State Director of Security, Usman Dauda, speaking through his Deputy Director of Operations, Babangida Aliyu, expressed appreciation for the timely visit. Aliyu echoed the call for enhanced collaboration, particularly at technical and operational levels. He further suggested that fostering understanding among officers of both agencies through social events could contribute to building better working relationships.<\/div>\n

ACE Wetkas was accompanied on the visit by key officers from the Abuja Zonal Directorate, including ACE Adenike S. Babalola, who serves as the Head of Investigation.<\/div>\n
This renewed commitment to collaboration between the EFCC and DSS is expected to bolster efforts in tackling financial crimes and ensuring national security.<\/div>\n
