The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has alerted President Bola Tinubu to dismiss the thought of returning back to the presidential villa in 2027, stating that even as governors and other political elites are defecting to the ruling party, ordinary Nigerians cannot defect to a party that weaponizes hunger, poverty, and insecurity.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The party urged Tinubu to consider himself a one-term president and perish the thoughts of seeking re-election in 2027.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
National Publicity Secretary of the party, Hon. Debo Ologunagba made the disclosure on Sunday in Abuja during a press conference at the party\u2019s headquarters.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
He accused the ruling party of losing touch with reality and the hardship that Nigerians are going through daily.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cNigerian people are not defecting. How can they defect when you see what happened in Benue, where 200 people were roasted in their homes?<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cWhat will be on the ballot is the Nigerian people. The good thing is that Nigerian people are not defecting. Because they can’t defect to hunger. They can’t defect to insecurity. They can’t defect to life-discounting experiences on a daily basis. They can’t defect to the fact that the hardship in the country is expanding on a daily basis.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cWhat will be on the ballot will be that you and I, every day, we’re suffocating under the policies of this government. The capacity of a leader to say, yes, I’m listening. That is a strength. It’s not by being recalcitrant.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cThey can’t defect to the fact that there’s a huge members of the cabal who are okay even if people are dying. Those are the issues that will be on the ballot. It’s not so much about whether they do it themselves and say, Oh, we’re doing well, you are involved in monumental corruption, you’re in the country where you’re buying an aircraft of 360 billion naira when people can’t to send their kids to school, when they can’t go to hospital,” he said.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
He lamented that it took intervention of Pope Leo XIV and other notable Nigerians to make Tinubu to identify with the grieving people of Benue State.<\/div>\n

\u201cThe president needs to be urged by the Pope to go there. He was urged by PDP to go there before he went there. They don’t feel us. APC don’t feel us. They are not us. They can’t understand us. They can’t connect with the Nigerian people, ” he stressed.<\/div>\n

He argued that the suffering every Nigerian is going through daily has triggered more interest in the 2027 election. He said that Tinubu will not be spared as he will be voted out by hungry Nigerians after his first tenure.<\/div>\n
