Gov. Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta on Wednesday submitted a list of seven nominees for appointment as chairman and members of the Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy to the state legislature for confirmation.<\/p>\n
The nominees are Chief T. J. O. Okpoko as Chairman, while Dr A. O. Ebinum, Mrs Philipa Longe, Chief A. P. Okpakpo, Brig-Gen. Brodrick Demeyeibo, retired, Col. Anthony Asielue, retired and Mr Churchill Oki would serve as members of the council.<\/p>\n
The list was conveyed to the State House of Assembly through a letter which was read during plenary by the Speaker, Mr Victor Ochei.<\/p>\n
According to the letter, Uduaghan said that the constitution of the advisory council on prerogative of mercy was in line with Section 3 of the Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy Law, 1999.<\/p>\n
The Deputy Majority Leader of the House, Mr Johnson Erijo, moved a motion for the legislature to consider the letter.<\/p>\n
The motion was seconded by Mr Friday Osanebi, representing Ndokwa East Constituency in the state House of Assembly.<\/p>\n
The speaker then directed the nominees to appear before the house for screening on April 17.<\/p>\n
Ochei also directed that the nominees should submit 35 copies each of their curriculum vitae to the office of the Clerk to the House on or before April 15.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
