The National Working Committee (NWC) of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has stated that it is focused on reposition the party, uniting party members and working towards the actualizing its national convention not coalition talks.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Recall that high profile members of the main opposition party including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Senate President David Mark, former National Chairman Uche Secondus, former governor of Cross River State Liyel Imoke, former National Publicity Secretary Kola Ologbodiyan and host of others joined the coalition train running on the platform of African Democratic Congress (ADC).<\/div>\n

Atiku had also in a meeting on Tuesday in Abuja, wooed several stakeholders in PDP to join the coalition, saying that the PDP had become a shadow of itself.<\/div>\n

But the National Publicity of the party, Hon. Debo Ologunagba in a statement on Thursday, said that the party is yet to come out with any position on the coalition though it is disposed to working with politicians and groups of like minds. He said that the party is focused on rebranding and uniting members.<\/div>\n

The statement reads, \u201cThe attention of the National Working Committee (NWC) of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been drawn to a misrepresenting report in a section of the social media claiming that the PDP had directed its members to join the Coalition Group.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cFor the avoidance of doubt, the NWC states in clear terms that the PDP has not taken any official position on the issue of Coalition.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cThe PDP is for now focused on building and consolidating on attained unity, stability and strengthening of its structures and capacity to play its roles as the leading opposition Party determined to return to power in 2027.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cOur Party is currently working conscientiously towards a successful National Convention which will further revamp and reposition the PDP for the task ahead.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cNevertheless, as a major opposition Party with very strong presence and bond with Nigerians across the country, the PDP restates that it remains open to working with other well-meaning like-minded citizens in the collective effort to rescue our nation from the stranglehold of the rudderless and insensitive All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration\u201d.<\/div>\n

While appreciating Nigerians for their interest, solidarity and loyalty to the PDP brand, the party reassured it followeres that all machineries are being put in place to re-activate the PDP winning ways ahead of the 2027 general elections.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
