style=\"text-align: justify;\">The gale of defection raving the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the weekend swept away Senators, Francis Fadahunsi of Osun East senatorial district and Olubiyi Fadeyi of Osun Central.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Osun senators announced their PDP membership resignation in separate letters addressed to their ward chairpersons.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">In a letter addressed to the PDP ward 4 chairman in Obokun LGA and dated July 12, Fadahunsi attributed his resignation to the \u201cirreparable and irreconcilable differences\u201d in the party since the 2023 elections.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI wish to formally notify you that I am resigning my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party with immediate effect, due to the irreparable, irreconcilable differences and protracted legal battles that have bedeviled the party at the national level after the 2023 general elections.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThis was concluded after consultation and engagement with my political associates, family and friends, \u201d Fadahunsi said.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">In his own letter addressed to the PDP ward 3 chairman in Oke-Ejigbo and dated July 12, Fadeyi said the court cases that led to factions at the party\u2019s national level influenced his decision to dump PDP.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI wish to formally notify you that I am resigning my membership of the People\u2019s Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect,\u201d Fadeyi said.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIrreconcilable difference and irreparable division that have emerged and court cases and counter court cases in the last 3 years which has created faction in the party at the national level.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThis was concluded after consultation and engagement with my political associates, family and friends.\u201d<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The two senators did not announce the political party they will join.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">About 30 PDP has been has left the opposition party to different political parties including the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC).<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Speculations has been circulated across social and political circles suggesting that Osun State governor, Ademola Adeleke was planning to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), but the governor has publicly refuted these claims, calling them baseless and politically motivated.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Adeleke reaffirmed his loyalty to the PDP during meetings with party stakeholders, stating he remains committed to the party\u2019s vision and leadership in Osun.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">But giving a hint that the governor may join the ruling APC, the governors nephew and music star Davido, released a song snippet with lyrics referencing a switch from &#8220;umbrella to broom&#8221;\u2014symbols of PDP and APC respectively.
