Clement Jimbo (APC,\u00a0 Akwa Ibom), relying on Order 8 Rule 6 of the House Standing Orders, decried the increasing trend of court judgments being delivered with what he described as \u201cambiguities subject to different interpretations.\u201d<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cMr Speaker,\u201d Jimbo said, \u201cas members of parliament with the constitutional mandate to make laws for the good governance, prosperity and security of our nation, it is imperative we draw attention to these perceived inconsistencies from our judiciary.\u201d<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The lawmaker emphasized that court judgments should be \u201csimple, straightforward and without ambiguity,\u201d arguing that legal pronouncements open to multiple interpretations could sow confusion and weaken the rule of law.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">His motion, which was unanimously adopted by the House, comes amid a legal stand-off between Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio.
