The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike has warned of a new set of crises in the Peoples Democratic Party if the National Working Committee (NWC) continues to reject the new executives that emerged from the South south congress that took place in Calabar, Cross River State.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The minister, who spoke during a media chat on Monday in Abuja, said the party has done the right thing by reaffirming Senator Samuel Anyanwu as its substantive National Secretary. He explained that he had insisted that his party should do the right thing and restore a secretary that was elected by a convention.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cI never insisted that Senator Anyanwu would be National Secretary. I insisted that the right thing must be done. If the right thing to be done is that Senator Anyanwu should be reaffirmed as National Secretary, so be it; that is what I insisted. If the law takes place, so be it. And the law has taken place,\u201d Wike said.<\/div>\n

The former Rivers state governor warned that though the crisis in the party is over for now, another set of crises will resume if the party fails to recognise the zonal congress that produced Chief Dan Orbih as the party\u2019s National Vice chairman, South-South.<\/div>\n

He said, \u201cWell, it is over for now. There are few things still remaining, and I have told them that they must do it. Our congress was held in Calabar, and there’s nothing anybody can tell us. If they want to have another round of crisis, so be it. In that congress, Chief Dan Orbih emerged as the National Vice Chairman from the congress. They never wanted the congress to hold. Congress was held.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cThe so-called acting national chairman of the party wrote a letter to INEC after Congress was held on Saturday, that the congress has been postponed.<\/div>\n
\u201cThere are no two ways about it. The National Vice Chairman of PDP South-South is Chief Dan Orbih. If they don\u2019t agree, that\u2019s another round of crisis\u201d he threatened.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Wike also argued that the party must also deal with its Southeastzonal chairman, Ali Odefa who has been sacked from the party by an order of a court of competent jurisdiction.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cThe southeast vice chairman, Ali Odefa is no longer a member of the party. These are the things I tell people; what I don\u2019t like is impunity. And for someone like me, we will not condone it. I will not allow it. We will fight it except they correct it.\u201d<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Wike added that the national convention being put together by the party may end up in crisis if these anomalies in the PDP are not corrected.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cThey said that they are going for their convention in November. I am not part of it until they have correct it. Let us wait, there is still time for them to resolve it. Before you talk about convention, resolve the matter. If the matter is not resolved, there will be crisis\u201d.<\/div>\n

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party had after its 101 meeting in Abuja agreed to hold its national convention between 15 \u2013 16th November, 2025 in Ibadan Oyo State.<\/div>\n
