{"id":121307,"date":"2025-08-07T19:44:27","date_gmt":"2025-08-07T18:44:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=121307"},"modified":"2025-08-07T19:44:27","modified_gmt":"2025-08-07T18:44:27","slug":"tinubu-nominates-ramat-two-others-for-nerc-role","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/tinubu-nominates-ramat-two-others-for-nerc-role\/","title":{"rendered":"\u200eTinubu Nominates Ramat, Two Others For NERC Role"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>By \u200eDaniel Adaji<\/div>\n<div>\u200e<\/div>\n<div>\u200ePresident Bola Tinubu has nominated Abdullahi Ramat as the Chairman\/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), alongside two new commissioners, in a strategic move to strengthen leadership in the nation\u2019s power sector.<\/div>\n<div>\u200e<\/div>\n<div>\u200eRamat, 39, is an electrical engineer and administrator with a PhD in Strategic Management.<\/div>\n<div>\u200e<\/div>\n<div>\u200eHis nomination, according to the presidency, is aimed at advancing the administration\u2019s energy reform agenda and addressing regulatory challenges in the electricity sector.<\/div>\n<div>\u200e<\/div>\n<div>\u200eIn addition to Ramat, Tinubu also forwarded the names of Mr. Abubakar Yusuf as Commissioner of Consumer Affairs and Dr. Fouad Olayinka Animashun as Commissioner of Finance and Management Services.<\/div>\n<div>\u200e<\/div>\n<div>\u200e\u201cAll nominations are subject to Senate confirmation,\u201d the State House said in a statement issued on Thursday, by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.<\/div>\n<div>\u200e<\/div>\n<div>\u200eHowever, to forestall a leadership vacuum at the Commission, the President has directed Ramat to assume office in an acting capacity, pending his screening by the Senate.
