{"id":121518,"date":"2025-08-20T10:52:02","date_gmt":"2025-08-20T09:52:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=121518"},"modified":"2025-08-20T10:52:02","modified_gmt":"2025-08-20T09:52:02","slug":"bye-election-inec-to-present-certificate-of-return-thursday-friday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/bye-election-inec-to-present-certificate-of-return-thursday-friday\/","title":{"rendered":"Bye-election: INEC to present Certificate of Return Thursday, Friday"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>By Myke Agunwa, Abuja<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will on Thursday at the Commissions Headquarters in Abuja, present Certificate of Return to winners of last Saturday&#8217;s National Assembly bye-elections<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Certificates will also be presented to winners of the State Assembly\u2019s polls at it&#8217;s state offices on Friday.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>National Commissioner and Chairman, Information &amp; Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun in a statement on Tuesday, said that the presentation is in line with the 2022 electoral act.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>He said, &#8220;In compliance with the provision of Section 72(1) of the Electoral Act 2022, Certificates of Return will be presented to the Senators-elect for Anambra South and Edo Central Senatorial Districts as well as the five members of House of Representatives-elect for Ovie North East and Ovie South West Federal Constituency of Edo State,\u00a0 Babura\/Garki Federal Constituency of Jigawa State, Chikun\/Kajuru Federal Constituency of Kaduna State, Ikenne\/Shagamu\/Remo North Federal Constituency of Ogun State and Ibadan North Federal Constituency of Oyo State. The occasion will take place at the INEC National Headquarters in Abuja on Thursday 21st August 2025 at 3.00pm.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>&#8220;For State Houses of Assembly, the Certificates of Return will be presented to members-elect by the Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) in our State offices on Friday 22nd August 2025 at 11.00am. The constituencies are Ganye State Constituency of Adamawa State, Onitsha North 1 State Constituency of Anambra State, Basawa and Zaria\/Kewaye State Constituencies of Kaduna State, Bagwai\/Shanono and Ghari\/Tsanyawa State constituencies of Kano State, Okura State Constituency of Kogi State, Munya State Constituency of Niger State and Karim Lamido 1 State Constituency of Taraba State&#8221;.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The commission affirmed that in spite of the prevailing security situation, election was held in Kaura Namoda South State Constituency of Zamfara State.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>However the Returning Officer reported that he was unable to make a declaration because of violence\/emergency in five Polling Units across two Registration Areas\/Wards with a total of 3,572 registered voters out of which 3,265 Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) were collected by voters.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The affected polling units were: Shiyar Magaji\/Kofar Hamza, Tukasu\/Sabuwar Kasuwa, Kofar Fada\/ Shiyar Fada, Alko\/Shiyar Tudu, and SH\/Nufawa\/Kofar M. D. Nuhu<\/div>\n<div>The run-off election has been rescheduled for August, 21.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>On the outcome of the other elections he said,<\/div>\n<div>\u201cTwo re-run elections by order of the Election Petition Appeal Tribunals were held in Enugu and Kano States.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cAfter previous disruptions of the elections in the two States by violence and thuggery, the elections have now been concluded.
