{"id":121853,"date":"2025-09-03T08:36:35","date_gmt":"2025-09-03T07:36:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=121853"},"modified":"2025-09-03T08:36:35","modified_gmt":"2025-09-03T07:36:35","slug":"court-orders-dual-dna-tests-to-determine-paternity-of-mohbads-son","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/court-orders-dual-dna-tests-to-determine-paternity-of-mohbads-son\/","title":{"rendered":"Court Orders Dual DNA Tests to Determine Paternity of Mohbad\u2019s Son"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">By Lizzy Chirkpi<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Magistrate Court in Ikorodu has directed that two separate Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) tests be conducted on Liam Aloba, the son of late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Magistrate Adefisoye Sonuga issued the order on Tuesday following an application by Mohbad\u2019s father, Mr. Joseph Aloba, who is seeking to confirm the paternity of the child.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to the ruling, the tests will take place \u201cin an accredited and recognised hospital, both in Nigeria and abroad.\u201d<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">In his application, Mr. Aloba requested that the Chief Medical Officer or Chief Pathologist at the Military Hospital, Yaba, Lagos where the late singer\u2019s remains are currently kept be authorised \u201cto remove any tissue, hair, or other suitable sample from the body of the deceased\u201d for the DNA analysis.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The documents presented to the court argued that there is \u201cuncertainty regarding the paternity of Master Liam Aloba\u201d and that it is \u201cimperative that the paternity be conclusively settled\u201d due to its implications on child welfare and the respondent\u2019s maintenance obligations.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Represented by Augustine Adegbemi from the law firm of Dr. Wahab Shittu (SAN) &amp; Co., Mr. Aloba moved the application without opposition from the respondent\u2019s counsel, Kabir Akingbolu, who represented the late Mohbad\u2019s wife, Omowunmi Cynthia Aloba.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The magistrate granted the order as requested, stating:<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Two DNA tests must be carried out one in Nigeria and another in an accredited medical facility abroad.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">MohBad passed away abruptly on September 12, 2023, shortly after a performance. His death occurred under mysterious circumstances while being treated in a Lagos hospital for what was reportedly an ear infection .
