The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa\u2019ad Abubakar, on Monday restated the commitment of the Jama\u2019atul Nasril Islam (JNI) to ensuring a more united Nigeria.<\/p>\n
Mr. Abubakar spoke in Sokoto at a meeting with Islamic organisations during the visit of the Secretary General of JNI, Khalid Aliyu, to Sokoto State.<\/p>\n
Mr. Abubakar, who was represented by the District Head of Hamma\u2019ali, Bello Ubandoma, said that without peace and unity anywhere, there would be no meaningful development.
\n\u201cA more united and prosperous Nigeria is all what well-meaning and patriotic Nigerians should aspire and tirelessly work for,\u201d he urged.<\/p>\n
Mr. Aliyu in his speech said that the visit to the state was part of his nationwide tour of all the JNI offices across the country with a view to assessing their achievements, problems and prospects.<\/p>\n
The Sultan, who is the President-General of the organisation, has set up a committee to reposition it.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is also with a view to revitalising it to be alive to its responsibilities nationwide and be empowered to rise to the current emerging challenges in the country,\u2019\u2019 he added.<\/p>\n
Mr. Aliyu also stressed the need for the unity and peace of the country and that of the Muslim Ummah.
