{"id":122152,"date":"2025-09-10T18:12:23","date_gmt":"2025-09-10T17:12:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=122152"},"modified":"2025-09-10T18:12:23","modified_gmt":"2025-09-10T17:12:23","slug":"inec-recognizes-mark-as-adc-chairman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/inec-recognizes-mark-as-adc-chairman\/","title":{"rendered":"INEC recognizes Mark as ADC Chairman"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">By Myke Agunwa<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has formally recognized David Mark as the authentic chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The commission also recognized former governor of Osun State Rauf Aregbesola as National Secretary, Mani Ibrahim Ahmad National Treasurer, Akibu Dalhatu National Financial Secretary, and Prof. Oserheimen Osunbor as National Legal Adviser.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The INEC website was updated with the new leadership on Wednesday.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The ADC National Public Secretary, Bola Abdullahi had in a telephone discussion with\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/pointblanknews.com&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1757605335948000&amp;usg=AOvVaw2cGa4_p_3lZUII6qoLnSpd\">pointblanknews.com<\/a>, said that the delay was as a result of some documentation that was yet to be completed by the party.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cINEC observed some gaps in some of the documents we had earlier submitted and we have corrected it. The delay is from our end and we are not worried\u201d he told our reporter.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pointblanknews.com reported that the interim National Chairman of the party led by Mark on July 30th, 2025 took oath of office and pledged to ensure that party democracy is maintained at all levels.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The new leadership made the commitment during the party\u2019s 99th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting that took place in Abuja.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The INEC recognition finally lays to rest agitations by some aggrieved members of the party, including Nafiu Bala who was claiming the position of National Chairman following the resignation of Dr. Okey Nwosu.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">You may recall that Bala had in a press conference, dismissed the change of guards approved by the party\u2019s NEC.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">While claiming to be the authentic chairman of the party he said, \u201cThe party constitution states clearly that in the event of a national chairman\u2019s resignation, the deputy national chairman automatically assumes leadership.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cTherefore, I remain the authentic national chairman of our great party,\u201d Bala insisted.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">He further alleged that some individuals parading themselves as leaders of the party were not even registered members of the ADC.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Similarly, the party\u2019s Presidential candidate in the 2023 election also rejected the new leadership of the party.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Kachikwu accused the group of politicians, whom he described as \u201ca political gang,\u201d of attempting to hijack the ADC as a vehicle to revive their stalled political careers and advance the presidential ambitions of a northern candidate, particularly former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThis is not a political coalition.
