The Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has appointed 1,200 assistants to promote grassroots development and enhance civic engagement across the state.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The Special Adviser on Media and Strategy to the governor, Kayode Akinmade, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The appointment of the 1,200 aides reflects Abiodun\u2019s longstanding emphasis on participatory governance since assuming office in 2019, the statement read in part.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The statement further noted that Governor Abiodun’s administration has repeatedly highlighted inclusivity, grassroots development, and citizen engagement as central pillars of its policies.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Abiodun was said to have described the move as a strategic effort to strengthen democratic governance across all nooks and crannies of the state.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Akinmade explained, \u201cThe assistants \u2014 five from each of the 236 wards in Ogun State \u2014 will ensure greater local participation in governance, effectively bridging the gap between the grassroots and the state government.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cThe newly appointed political assistants are to support the delivery of democratic dividends, articulate the needs of their respective wards, and communicate these needs to the state government.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cThey are also expected to provide accurate feedback from the government to the wards and vice versa.\u201d<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
He emphasised that this initiative fulfils Abiodun\u2019s electoral promise to carry every ward along in his administration\u2019s development programs and to run an all-inclusive government that values the people\u2019s inputs in shaping policies and initiatives.<\/div>\n
