{"id":122304,"date":"2025-09-17T19:37:45","date_gmt":"2025-09-17T18:37:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=122304"},"modified":"2025-09-17T19:38:53","modified_gmt":"2025-09-17T18:38:53","slug":"dss-drags-sowore-to-court-over-social-media-post-on-tinubu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/dss-drags-sowore-to-court-over-social-media-post-on-tinubu\/","title":{"rendered":"DSS Drags Sowore to Court Over Social Media Post on Tinubu"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">By Oscar Okhifo<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Department of State Services (DSS) has filed a five-count charge at the Federal High Court, Abuja, against publisher and activist Omoyele Sowore over alleged offensive comments made about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on social media.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to the DSS, Sowore committed a series of \u201cnovel offences\u201d by referring to the President as a criminal in posts shared on X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">You\u2019d recall that the secret police had earlier issued Sowore an ultimatum to delete the tweet in question, which both the activist and the tech giant ignored.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">A private letter from the DSS to Sowore, as well as a personal chat between him and presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga urging him to take down the \u201coffensive\u201d remark, also failed to achieve compliance.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The DSS, in addition, copied X and Facebook in its correspondence, requesting that Sowore be sanctioned through account deactivation.
