At least four soldiers were confirmed dead and five others injured when Boko Haram terrorists launched a coordinated attack on a military post near a barracks in Ngamdu, along the Damaturu\u2013Maiduguri highway in Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State.<\/div>\n

The assault, which occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Friday, was repelled after a fierce exchange of gunfire with troops of Operation Hadin Kai.<\/div>\n

Confirming the incident, spokesperson for Operation Hadin Kai, Lt. Col. Uba Sani, said in a statement that the insurgents suffered heavy casualties during the encounter.<\/div>\n

\u201cTroops of Operation Hadin Kai successfully repelled a coordinated terrorist attack in the Ngamdu general area, following a swift response by forces on ground and reinforcement elements from 29 Task Force Brigade,\u201d Sani said.<\/div>\n

He disclosed that the terrorists deployed Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPGs), armed drones, and command-initiated Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) against the troops and their platforms.<\/div>\n

\u201cDespite the intensity of the attack, the troops held their ground,\u201d he stated. \u201cUnfortunately, own troops recorded 4 x Killed in Action (KIA) and 5 x Wounded in Action (WIA). Additionally, some Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles and Gun Trucks (GTs) sustained varying degrees of damage during the encounter.\u201d<\/div>\n

Sani added that the terrorists planted multiple IEDs along the Ngamdu\u2013Damaturu Main Supply Route (MSR) in an attempt to block reinforcements and inflict further damage.<\/div>\n

\u201cThis necessitated a temporary closure of the MSR, as engineers swiftly responded to clear 3 IED-laden spots. Following successful clearance, the MSR has now been reopened to both military and civilian movement,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n

The military spokesperson further revealed that reinforcements and resupplies, including MRAP tyres and ammunition, had been dispatched to sustain ongoing operations.<\/div>\n

\u201cCredible intelligence indicated that the terrorists suffered heavy losses, with reports of about 15 bodies buried around Bula Wura, near Wasaram,\u201d he added.<\/div>\n

He commended the troops for their resilience and reassured the public that normalcy had been restored in the area.<\/div>\n

Meanwhile, eyewitnesses reported traffic gridlock on the Damaturu\u2013Maiduguri highway during the military\u2019s post-attack operations.<\/div>\n

Boko Haram has ramped up attacks on military installations across Borno State in recent months. The insurgency, which began in 2009, has displaced over two million people and caused thousands of deaths in northeastern Nigeria.<\/div>\n
