\u200eOgun State has officially handed over 130 hectares of land to the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy (FMM&BE) for the development of an inland dry port in Ijebu-Ode.<\/div>\n
\u200e<\/div>\n
\u200eAt the formal ceremony, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Olufemi Oloruntola, signed the Transfer of Rights, Control, and Possession documents on behalf of the Federal Government. He assured stakeholders of government\u2019s commitment to completing the port within a short period.<\/div>\n
\u200e<\/div>\n
\u200eIn a statement on Sunday, Director of Information and Public Relations at FMM&BE, Anastasia Ogbonna said the project aligns with the Federal Government\u2019s goal of improving maritime infrastructure and fostering trade competitiveness across the country.<\/div>\n
\u200e<\/div>\n
\u200eRepresenting Governor Dapo Abiodun, the Ogun State Commissioner for Transportation, Engr. Gbenga Dairo, confirmed that the land was provided to the Federal Government through the Ministry to \u201cfacilitate and enable the construction of an inland port terminal within the Ijebu-Ode economic cluster area.\u201d<\/div>\n

\u200eAccording to him, the project would \u201cimprove intermodal transportation in the State and the Western Ports by extension,\u201d adding that Ogun State\u2019s contribution underscores its commitment to national trade and industrial development.<\/div>\n
\u200e<\/div>\n
\u200eWhen completed, the facility will be officially named the Ijebu-Ode Inland Dry Port, and it is expected to serve as a logistics hub for cargo movement, reduce road congestion, and support businesses within the southwestern economic corridor.<\/div>\n
\u200e<\/div>\n
\u200eThe handover ceremony was attended by the Director of Maritime Services, Dr. Mercy Ilori, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers\u2019 Council, Pius Akutah, and representatives from the National Inland Waterways Authority.<\/div>\n

\u200e<\/div>\n
\u200eThe new inland dry port, once operational, will complement existing seaports in Lagos and strengthen Nigeria\u2019s maritime and blue economy drive.<\/div>\n
