The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reported progress in the ongoing process of registering new political parties, confirming that eight out of fourteen pre-qualified associations have successfully uploaded all the required documents.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Recall that on September 11, 2025, INEC announced that 14 political associations had been pre-qualified for the next registration phase after meeting initial requirements. The Commission later held a briefing for these associations on September 17, 2025, to guide them through the portal upload procedures and documentation standards.<\/div>\n

In a statement issued on Thursday and signed by Sam Olumekun, National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, the Commission said the dedicated portal for document submission was open from September 18 to October 18, 2025.<\/div>\n

The eight associations that met the deadline are the All Democratic Alliance (ADA), Citizens Democratic Alliance (CDA), Abundance Social Party (ASP), African Alliance Party (AAP), Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA), Green Future Party (GFP), National Democratic Party (NDP), and Peoples Freedom Party (PFP).<\/div>\n

According to the statement, INEC will now begin a thorough assessment and verification of the documents submitted by these associations to ensure full compliance with the 1999 Constitution (as amended), the Electoral Act 2022, and the Commission\u2019s Regulations and Guidelines for Political Parties (2022).<\/div>\n

Olumekun emphasized that the verification process would be carried out in accordance with legal standards and the Commission\u2019s dedication to transparency.<\/div>\n

\u201cThe Commission will carefully assess each application to ensure that every association meets the constitutional and legal registration requirements.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cINEC remains committed to inclusivity, transparency, and strengthening Nigeria\u2019s democratic culture,\u201d he stated.<\/div>\n

Olumekun further assured Nigerians that the Commission would continue to operate in ways that uphold fairness, accountability, and public trust.<\/div>\n
