Zakaria Nyampa, announced this during the committee\u2019s inauguration on Thursday at the National Assembly, Abuja.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nyampa said the inquiry became necessary following the gap between huge budgetary allocations to the security sector and the persistent insecurity across the country.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThis investigation is not a witch-hunt,\u201d he clarified. \u201cOur goal is to ensure that every naira released for security is used for its intended purpose, to protect the lives and property of Nigerians.\u201d<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">He explained that the probe would cover all intervention programmes, special allocations, and procurement processes in beneficiary agencies, adding that the committee would also assess the impact of such spending on national security. \u201cWe are determined to trace every fund with professionalism, fairness, and patriotism,\u201d Nyampa stated.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">To guarantee openness, the committee will work closely with the Ministry of Finance, Budget Office, Office of the National Security Adviser, the armed forces, police authorities, and anti-corruption agencies such as the EFCC and ICPC. It will also partner with civil society organizations like BudgIT, CISLAC, and SERAP. \u201cTransparency is the foundation of good governance,\u201d he added.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nyampa warned that diverting funds meant for security has grave consequences. \u201cWhen resources meant to secure the nation are misused, the loss is not only in naira but in human lives. We cannot afford to fail,\u201d he said, assuring that the committee\u2019s findings would strengthen security financing and rebuild public trust.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">In his remarks, Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, reaffirmed the legislature\u2019s commitment to transparency and accountability in the management of public funds.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Represented by the Deputy Chief Whip, Hon.
