The office of the former Director in charge of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in the building housing the Information and Communication Technology(ICT) Centre of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Abuja was affected by fire yesterday.<\/p>\n
Last January, a fire incident also gutted the Voter Registry Department of the Commission.<\/p>\n
But a release by the Chief Press Secretary to INEC Chairman, Mr. Kayode Idowu, noted that the fire started at about noon but was brought under control by men of Federal Fire Service attached to INEC hence no colossal damage on any vital facility of the commission.<\/p>\n
Idowu further stated that initial assessment suggested that the fire emanated from electrical faults.<\/p>\n
The statement read: “the fire occurred in the office of former Director in charge of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), located in the ICT Building, and was restricted to that office when it was put out.<\/p>\n
“Men of the Fire Service attached to the Commission swiftly responded to put the fire out. There was no damage whatsoever to any vital facility of the Commission”, the statement read.<\/p>\n
“Formal investigation of the cause of the fire has commenced. Initial assessment, however, suggests that it might have resulted from an electrical fault”.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
