Former Special Adviser to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, Opunabo Tariah\u00a0 has dismissed claims that Governor Siminalayi Fubara cannot seek a second term in 2027, describing any such agreement as legally meaningless.<\/div>\n

Speaking in an interview with News Central TV, monitored by Pointblank news, Tariah argued that a fallout between Wike and Fubara is no reason to prevent the governor from contesting again, insisting that personal differences cannot override constitutional rights.<\/div>\n

“What kind of agreement did you go into to tell a man ‘Do not contest’? I would have even preferred a situation where he told him, ‘If you contest, I will come after you politically, or let’s meet at the battlefield.’ Then I could accept such a challenge. Okay, why will he not contest? What has he done that you say he should not contest? Because he fell out with you? That is why I said that agreement is a nullity.”<\/div>\n

He emphasized that political disagreements or personal differences should not restrict an elected official\u2019s constitutional right to seek re-election.<\/div>\n

Mr. Wike has not publicly reacted to his former aid as at the time of filing this report.<\/div>\n
