Abuja, the nation’s capital has been placed on heightened security alert following intelligence suggesting a possible terror plot by Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) targeting key government and security institutions.<\/div>\n

Security sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorised to brief the media, said intelligence reports indicated that ISWAP operatives may be planning coordinated attacks on strategic locations, including the Force Headquarters, Defence Headquarters, and several other critical government facilities within Abuja.<\/div>\n

According to the sources, the intelligence still being analysed and verified prompted security agencies to activate precautionary measures across the city. \u201cAll security formations have been notified and placed on alert as a preventive step,\u201d one source said, adding that the move was intended to deter any possible attempt and reassure the public.<\/div>\n
