{"id":125144,"date":"2026-01-22T09:37:53","date_gmt":"2026-01-22T08:37:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=125144"},"modified":"2026-01-22T09:37:53","modified_gmt":"2026-01-22T08:37:53","slug":"lp-leadership-crisis-deepens-as-abure-rejects-court-order-set-for-appeal-court","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/lp-leadership-crisis-deepens-as-abure-rejects-court-order-set-for-appeal-court\/","title":{"rendered":"LP Leadership Crisis Deepens as Abure Rejects Court Order, Set for Appeal Court"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">By Lizzy Chirkpi<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The leadership crisis rocking the Labour Party (LP) has deepened, with the factional National Chairman, Julius Abure, rejecting a Federal High Court ruling that directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognise the Nenadi Usman\u2013led caretaker committee.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Abure\u2019s position was conveyed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the factional National Publicity Secretary of the party, Obiora Ifoh.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to the statement, Abure described the judgment as inconsistent with the April 2025 decision of the Supreme Court on the party\u2019s leadership dispute and confirmed that the ruling would be challenged at the Court of Appeal.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Peter Lifu, had earlier ruled that Abure\u2019s tenure as national chairman had expired.
