The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan (SAN), has assured voters in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) that the commission will transmit all election results in real time from polling units during the upcoming elections.<\/div>\n
Speaking on Tuesday in Abuja after assessing the preparedness of three Area Councils, Kuje, Gwagwalada, and Bwari, Amupitan expressed confidence in the commission\u2019s readiness for the elections scheduled for Saturday, February 21, 2026.<\/div>\n

He affirmed that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BiVAS), which has been used to transmit results in real time since its introduction, will ensure the smooth and accurate reporting of election outcomes.<\/div>\n

\u201cThe report we received has been verified, and I am satisfied with the level of preparedness. In Kuje, they reported 99.9% readiness; Gwagwalada, 90.8%; and Bwari, 100%. There should be no excuse for malfeasance. We are poised to deliver a credible election,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n

Amupitan further explained that a successful election depends on the timely deployment of materials, adequate security for voters and staff, and proper use of technology to transmit results. He stressed that INEC will uphold its standards and not compromise on election integrity.<\/div>\n

He added, \u201cWe want to address voter apathy and meet the aspirations of Nigerians. Security agencies and polling officials must be in place on Friday for efficient deployment on Saturday morning, ensuring voting begins on time and results are transmitted without delay.\u201d<\/div>\n

On the preparedness of the Area Councils, Electoral Officer (EO) of Kuje, Adamu Yakubu, reported 99.9% readiness, while Gwagwalada EO Bola Abdullahi confirmed 90.8%, and Bwari EO Gloria Adeboye declared full readiness at 100%.<\/div>\n

Amupitan was accompanied on the tour by high-ranking INEC officials, including FCT Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) Aminu Idris, FCT Commissioner Operations Mallam Tukur Yusuf, and Acting Director of the Electoral Institute, Prof. Sani Ibrahim.<\/div>\n

With materials in place and technology tested, INEC has vowed to deliver an election that is both credible and transparent, restoring voter confidence in the process.<\/div>\n
