The calls grew louder after technical glitches affected INEC\u2019s results portal during the 2023 general elections, sparking widespread allegations of irregularities.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">INEC has fixed February 20, 2027, for the presidential and National Assembly elections, while governorship and state assembly polls are scheduled for March 6.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">However, a key provision in the amended law has already generated controversy. The new legislation repeals Section 84(2) of the Electoral Act 2022, which previously allowed political parties to adopt direct primaries, indirect primaries, or consensus in nominating candidates.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Another contentious area is Clause 60(3) of the amendment.
