The Department of State Services (DSS) has fixed February 25 for the arraignment of former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, over alleged cybercrime offences and breaches of national security.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
According to sources privy to the development, El-Rufai is expected to appear before a Federal High Court, where he will be formally charged over online statements and publications the security agency reportedly considers a threat to national stability.<\/div>\n

Although the DSS has yet to officially release full details of the charges, insiders hinted that the case borders on alleged violations of provisions of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act and other relevant security laws.<\/div>\n

The planned arraignment follows weeks of heightened political tension and speculation surrounding El-Rufai\u2019s recent public comments and activities.<\/div>\n

Security sources maintained that the agency\u2019s actions are in line with its mandate to safeguard national security and prevent the spread of content capable of inciting unrest.<\/div>\n

Attempts to get a reaction from El-Rufai\u2019s media team were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.<\/div>\n

However, some of his political associates have faulted the move, insisting that the charges are driven by political considerations rather than genuine security concerns.<\/div>\n

Observers say the case could further deepen political divisions and spark nationwide debate, given El-Rufai\u2019s influence in national affairs and his outspoken stance on key issues, particularly against the current administration.<\/div>\n
