{"id":125987,"date":"2026-03-04T06:22:33","date_gmt":"2026-03-04T05:22:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=125987"},"modified":"2026-03-04T06:22:33","modified_gmt":"2026-03-04T05:22:33","slug":"dni-faults-gbajabiamilas-alleged-role-in-party-deregistration-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/dni-faults-gbajabiamilas-alleged-role-in-party-deregistration-case\/","title":{"rendered":"DNI Faults Gbajabiamila\u2019s Alleged Role in Party Deregistration Case\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">By Tracy Moses<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Democratic Network Initiative (DNI) has expressed concern over a lawsuit aimed at deregistering six political parties, suggesting that the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, could be linked to the legal action.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">In a statement issued Tuesday, and signed by its National Coordinator, Bonniface Ekpeyong, the group described the suit as \u201ca tactical and legal manoeuvre\u201d designed to weaken opposition parties.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The six political parties targeted in the lawsuit include the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Accord Party, Action Alliance, Zenith Labour Party, Action Peoples Party, and the Labour Party.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The case was reportedly filed by the National Forum of Former Legislators (NFFL), which has asked the court to deregister the parties over alleged breaches of constitutional and electoral regulations.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ekpeyong, however, said the DNI\u2019s concerns extend beyond the legal claims, pointing to what he described as \u201cpolitical motives underlying the action.\u201d<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">He questioned the structure and operations of the NFFL, noting that they raise doubts about whose interests are being served.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The statement further alleged that most NFFL members are part of a larger group called the Joint Task Parliamentary Group, which DNI claims is \u201ccontrolled and sponsored\u201d by Gbajabiamila.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe suspicion gains weight considering that the NFFL\u2019s leadership consists of individuals widely recognized as a \u2018crack team\u2019 within the Joint Task group, commonly referred to as \u2018Gbaja Boys,\u2019 under the leadership of Hon. Raphael Nnanna Igbokwe,\u201d Ekpeyong said.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Attempts to reach Raphael Nnanna Igbokwe, Chairman of the NFFL Board of Trustees, for comment were unsuccessful.
