{"id":126779,"date":"2026-04-29T06:39:33","date_gmt":"2026-04-29T05:39:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=126779"},"modified":"2026-04-29T06:39:33","modified_gmt":"2026-04-29T05:39:33","slug":"2027-adc-begs-cjn-for-quick-judgment-over-leadership-crisis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/2027-adc-begs-cjn-for-quick-judgment-over-leadership-crisis\/","title":{"rendered":"2027: ADC Begs CJN for Quick Judgment Over Leadership Crisis"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">By Lizzy Chirkpi<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The African Democratic Congress has appealed to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, to urgently ensure the Supreme Court delivers judgment in its ongoing leadership crisis.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The party warned that any delay could stop it from taking part in the 2027 general elections.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">In a letter dated April 28, 2026, and signed by its lawyer, Shuaibu Enejoh Aruwa, the ADC described the situation as critical, saying the party may be locked out of the elections if the judgment is not delivered within three days.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWithout a judgment within the next three days, the ADC faces the real risk of being excluded from the 2027 general elections,\u201d the party said.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The case is currently before the Supreme Court of Nigeria, which had earlier reserved judgment on April 22 after hearing arguments from all parties involved.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The dispute is between former Senate President, David Mark, and Nafiu Bala Gombe over the party\u2019s national leadership.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">ADC said the delay is already affecting its operations, especially after the Independent National Electoral Commission removed its current leaders from official records.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cINEC has already de-recognised our leadership, leaving the party without direction at a very crucial time,\u201d the letter stated.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The party also pointed out that preparations for the 2027 elections have already started, making the timing of the judgment very important.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cOur ability to meet election requirements depends entirely on the court\u2019s decision.
