{"id":126858,"date":"2026-05-04T13:48:42","date_gmt":"2026-05-04T12:48:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=126858"},"modified":"2026-05-04T13:48:42","modified_gmt":"2026-05-04T12:48:42","slug":"cybercrime-against-tinubu-court-to-rule-of-sowores-no-case-submission-may-8","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/cybercrime-against-tinubu-court-to-rule-of-sowores-no-case-submission-may-8\/","title":{"rendered":"Cybercrime against Tinubu: Court to rule of Sowore&#8217;s no-case submission May 8"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">By Our Reporter<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">A Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed Friday, May 8 for ruling on an application for no-case submission by activist, Omoyele Sowore in the charges of cyberbullying President Bola Tinubu brought against him by the Department of the State Service (DSS).<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Justice Mohammed Garba Umar on Monday adjourned the matter after parties filed and argued their processes on the application which wss filed on April 21.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Earlier, Sowore&#8217;s lead counsel Abubakar Marshal submitted that after reviewing the evidence brought by the DSS, they could not find any link establishing the allegations against his client.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">However, in a response filed on April 23, DSS counsel, Akinlolu Kehinde (SAN), asked the court to refuse the application and order Sowore to enter his defence on the allegations of cybercrime.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Recall that the DSS had in 2025 brought the two-count charge against Sowore, which he denied any wrongdoing.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sowore, who is the publisher of Sahara Reporters and former presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), was on September 23, 2025 charged with five-count alongside X (formerly Twitter) and Meta (Facebook) as co-defendants.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">However, the charges were discontinued against the two social media platforms.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sowore was alleged to have used his official X handle page @YeleSowore to tweet: &#8220;This criminal @OfficialPBAT actually went to Brazil to state that there is no more corruption under his regime in Nigeria.
