{"id":127046,"date":"2026-05-14T08:55:50","date_gmt":"2026-05-14T07:55:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=127046"},"modified":"2026-05-14T08:55:50","modified_gmt":"2026-05-14T07:55:50","slug":"efcc-detains-energy-commission-dg-over-alleged-n500bn-laundering-scandal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/efcc-detains-energy-commission-dg-over-alleged-n500bn-laundering-scandal\/","title":{"rendered":"EFCC detains Energy Commission DG over alleged N500bn laundering scandal"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">By Lizzy Chirkpi<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has taken into custody the Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, Dr Mustapha Abdullahi, over an alleged N500 billion money laundering scandal currently under investigation.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sources within the anti-graft agency disclosed on Wednesday that Abdullahi was arrested in Abuja following ongoing investigations into suspected financial irregularities linked to the commission.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">A top official familiar with the matter said investigators are tracking large sums of money allegedly moved through different accounts and channels.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe have arrested the Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, Dr Mustapha Abdullahi, for money laundering offences. He was arrested and is currently in our custody.
