{"id":128100,"date":"2026-07-03T19:55:51","date_gmt":"2026-07-03T18:55:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=128100"},"modified":"2026-07-03T19:55:51","modified_gmt":"2026-07-03T18:55:51","slug":"adeyemi-to-be-arraigned-july-27-over-alleged-fake-presidential-agency-fraud","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/adeyemi-to-be-arraigned-july-27-over-alleged-fake-presidential-agency-fraud\/","title":{"rendered":"Adeyemi to be arraigned July 27 over alleged fake presidential agency, fraud"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>By John Azu<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Nigeria Police will arraign the alleged Director-General of the fictitious Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), also known as the Presidential Economic Advisory Council, Adeyemi Adeniyi Matthew, on July 27 over allegations of impersonation, forgery and fraud.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to Onanuga, the police concluded their investigation and filed an eight-count charge against Adeyemi and two alleged accomplices at the Federal High Court in Abuja on November 27, 2025. The matter is now scheduled for arraignment on July 27.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said the investigation stemmed from a petition written by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, on October 17, 2025, requesting the Department of State Services and the Nigeria Police to investigate the activities of individuals allegedly forging appointment letters purportedly issued from his office.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Onanuga said the police acted on the petition and arrested Adeyemi on October 27, 2025, at an office he operated within the Federal Secretariat in Abuja.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said searches conducted at the office and Adeyemi&#8217;s residence in Suleja led to the recovery of documents and other exhibits believed to be relevant to the investigation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Continuing, Onanuga said, &#8220;The police searched the office and Adeyemi\u2019s home in Suleja, recovering vital documents and exhibits. In Adeyemi\u2019s statement to the police, he claimed that one Dolapo Babatunde Tanimola assisted him in procuring the fake appointment letter. Following his claim, the police went after the said Tanimola. The Police found that Tanimola died in a fire incident at Kachi Hotel in Abuja on 22 October, five days before Adeyemi\u2019s arrest. Tanimola\u2019s body was seen by the police at the morgue, confirming the death.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;The police were able to establish that the agency Adeyemi purportedly headed was fictitious, that he forged his appointment letter and the documents recovered in his office and home, that he falsely paraded himself as a government appointee, and that he falsely solicited a note verbal from the Foreign Affairs Ministry to enable him and his staff to obtain US visas. The police also found that Adeyemi operated 34 bank accounts, with nine opened in the names of his fictitious agencies, known as the FCT Investment Promotion Agency and the Public Private Partnership (FIPA-APP), and the FCT Investment Promotion Act.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Police found that Adeyemi, using the fake documents he created, fraudulently opened a CBN account by misleading the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation.
