{"id":129522,"date":"2026-09-18T03:26:12","date_gmt":"2026-09-18T02:26:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=129522"},"modified":"2026-09-18T03:26:12","modified_gmt":"2026-09-18T02:26:12","slug":"shettima-clarified-six-northern-governors-remark","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/shettima-clarified-six-northern-governors-remark\/","title":{"rendered":"Shettima Clarified &#8216;Six Northern Governors\u2019 Remark\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>By Oscar Okhifo<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Vice President Kashim Shettima has clarified his controversial remark that only six northern governors supported President Bola Tinubu, saying he was referring to political consultations ahead of the June 2022 All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary, not the 2023 presidential election.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The clarification came on Thursday, a day after Shettima made the remark at the palace of the Emir of Ilorin, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, during the turbaning of Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as the Sardauna of Ilorin Emirate.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Speaking at the ceremony on Wednesday, Shettima said: \u201cYou all know that we have 19 states in the North. Out of these, only six actually believed and supported Tinubu.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He identified AbdulRazaq and former Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello as two of the six governors but declined to name the other four, saying he wanted to avoid controversy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Shettima also said Tinubu had reconciled with northern governors who did not initially support his presidential ambition.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cAfter the 2023 election, President Tinubu hugged and forgave all other northern governors that did not support him.
