{"id":130144,"date":"2026-10-20T08:41:44","date_gmt":"2026-10-20T07:41:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=130144"},"modified":"2026-10-20T08:41:44","modified_gmt":"2026-10-20T07:41:44","slug":"wikes-alleged-land-scam-court-fixes-hearing-for-dec-1-as-claimants-petition-efcc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/wikes-alleged-land-scam-court-fixes-hearing-for-dec-1-as-claimants-petition-efcc\/","title":{"rendered":"Wike\u2019s alleged land scam: Court fixes hearing for Dec 1 as claimants petition EFCC"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">By John Azu<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">An FCT High Court has fixed December 1, 2026 for hearing in the suit by two firms seeking to recover the sum of $2.1 million allegedly paid the son of the FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, Jodan, for an Abuja land.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Justice Sylvanus Oriji adjourned the matter on Monday to enable further hearing in the matter.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile, the two firms involved in the matter, Safwan Garba GY and GY Global Oil &amp; Gas Nigeria Limited, who had through their lawyers, raised allegations of fraud, obtaining by false pretences, criminal misappropriation and conversion against Jodan Wike, have also petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over the matter.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">A lawyer to the claimants, Ibrahim Waru, lamented that although the anti-graft agency had acknowledged receipt of the petition, it had yet to act on it.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Waru said his clients had attached to the petition a proof of evidence, including correspondence and WhatsApp exchanges, to establish that the money was allegedly handed over to Wike\u2019s son at a house in Gwarinpa on September 26, 2025, in the presence of two witnesses.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Besides, the claimants have petitioned the Chief Judge of the FCT High Court to remove Justice Oriji from the matter, citing his alleged relationship with the FCT minister\u2019s family.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cOur client met Jordan Nyesom-Wike in London, following which the two developed a rapport.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cUpon returning to Nigeria about three months ago, Jordan met with our client. He promised to facilitate the acquisition of land within the Federal Capital Territory, based on his prior representations that he routinely provided such facilitation and that he had his father\u2019s knowledge and approval, as the honourable Minister of the FCT.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cTo strengthen these representations, Jordan placed a telephone call to his father in the presence of our client, ostensibly informing him of the intended transaction.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe UK phone number he provided is no longer reachable, and all attempts by our client, including through individuals known to the honourable Minister, to establish contact with him have failed.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cBased on the foregoing, our client reasonably believes that Jordan Nyesom-Wike has committed offences, including but not limited to: Obtaining by False Pretence contrary to Section 1(1) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act; Fraud; Criminal Misappropriation; and Criminal Conversion of the sum of USD2,100,000 entrusted to him.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cOur client hereby requests that the Commission: commence an immediate investigation into the actions of Jordan Nyesom-Wike; arrest and interrogate Jordan Nyesom-Wike; and initiate prosecution where the investigation establishes criminal liability.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cOur client is prepared to provide all necessary help, including the witnesses and any further information that may assist the Commission.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe trust in the professionalism and diligence of the EFCC and kindly request prompt action on this matter.
