The Founder of Oodua People\u2019s Congress, Dr. Frederick Fasehun, has called for the scrapping of the Nigeria Governors\u2019 Forum.<\/p>\n
Also civil rights activist, Bamidele Aturu while also calling for the disbandment of the NGF, described it as an ” immoral assembly”<\/p>\n
Fasehun said the NGF lacked any democratic, nationalistic or progressive value.<\/p>\n
In a statement on Tuesday to mark Nigeria\u2019s Democracy Day on Wednesday, Fasehun said a lot of injustice was being done to the memories of the country\u2019s democracy matyrs.<\/p>\n
He said several steps being taken by politicians do not give befitting remembrance to democracy matyrs such as Bashorun Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola and Major General Shehu Musa Yar\u2019Adua.<\/p>\n
Fasehun said in the statement: \u201cIf 36 esteemed states governors cannot manage a small and exclusive election amongst themselves, how can they supervise free and fair elections involving 70 million voters during the 2015 general elections?\u201d<\/p>\n
Fasehun described the NGF as a cult with which the governors backed the removal of fuel subsidy and other sundry unfriendly policies to the masses.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cMoreover, the NGF is not a disciplined organisation. Its members not only lack respect for the person and office of the President, but also work against the spirit and letter of the Nigerian Constitution.\u201d<\/p>\n
He called for the convocation of a Sovereign National Conference as a way out of the country\u2019s numerous problems.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cThe democracy we run today is the worst in Africa, and it is a shame that it does not match what obtains in Ghana, South Africa and even Liberia. I can tell you confidently that this was not what we had in mind when we risked our lives, our limbs and our livelihoods against the Military.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
