Luck ran out on a banker, Robert Olusegun who was among 3241 suspects arrested by Kano state Police Command between January and June this year for various criminal offences.<\/p>\n
Commissioner of Police in Kano, Musa Daura while parading suspects on Wednesday said Robert attempted stealing the sum of N4.7 million from a customer at gun point.<\/p>\n
Robert had conspired with another accomplice, now at large and attacked a customer of the bank where he worked with a pistol and knife on his way to the bank to deposit the money, said the police boss.<\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153They robbed him the sum of N4, 755, 200.00. The suspects were vigorously pursued by members of the community and Robert was arrested with the money. One revolver pistol loaded with three live ammunitions and a knife were recovered from him.\u00c2\u00a0 Investigation is on top gear to arrest the fleeing suspect,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Daura stated.<\/p>\n
Daura said that in the last six months, items recovered from armed robbers include two AK 47 rifles, 60 rounds of live ammunitions, 9 locally made pistols, and 47 cartridges, huge scissors, cutlasses and house breaking implements, adding that 52 robbery cases were recorded while stolen properties recovered were 30 vehicles of different make, 98 GSM Handsets, jewelries, pumping machines, electric generators, cable fuses from vandalized Power Holding Company of Nigeria {PHCN} installations, among others.<\/p>\n
A team of policemen while on patrol along Zaria road, intercepted two men, Sa’adu Abdullahi and Ismail Ishaq, both from Jigawa state in a Toyota Camry car, suspected to have been stolen adding that on further scrutiny, pumping machine, one electric generator, two rolls of hose and other house breaking implements primed for suspected vandalization of pipeline along Dakasoye village, Garum Mallam Local government, the suspect confessed of the crime.<\/p>\n
The Command has from January to date conducted a series of raids at various criminal hideouts and black spots within the state. A total of 3241 suspects were arrested among which 2741 were charged to court for prosecution on various charges.<\/p>\n
\u00c2 \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Exhibits recovered from the suspects include 583 bottles of Suck-and-die, 1289 tubes of rubber solution, 100 packets of tramol drugs, 39 knives, 15 swords, seven locally-made pistols, large quantity of Indian Hemp, sticks, axes. The aim of the raids is to rid the state of criminal activities,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Daura stated.<\/p>\n
He recalled that a gang of seven armed men during the period attacked nine different houses in Sheka\/maidele quarters and robbed the occupant of their valuables, adding that all the suspect were arrested and are assisting the police in their investigation into the incident, while a five member of motor-cycle snatchers was also snatched by the command.<\/p>\n
Daura also expressed gratitude to Kano state government for the support it has been rendering the command especially in its campaign against criminals as well as other sister agencies in the state, noting that without their cooperation there was little the command alone could have achieved in its war against crime.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
