I was one of the first to commend the Federal government when it declared a state of emergency in three states to tackle this Boko Haram monster head on. There was no need negotiating with terrorists as they will not even accept to negotiate in the first place. Three months on and we are getting fed with lies from the federal government representatives. This is definitely not how we will nip this\u00a0 monster in the bud. This is a very delicate matter that should not be joked with. I think we have had enough of this deception. Almost three months on and one is yet to get a proper feedback as regards the state of emergency.<\/p>\n
Recently the Federal Government had announced the signing of a ceasefire agreement with the Islamic sect, Boko Haram.Minister of Special Duties Alhaji Tanimu Turaki, made the announcement in a radio interview.<\/p>\n
He said Boko Haram had agreed to lay down their arms Hear him\u201cWe have sat down and agreed that the Boko Haram will lay down their arms as part of the agreement so as to end the insurgency. Government agreed with the ceasefire and will look into ways to ensure that the troops relax their activities till the final take off of the ceasefire, A supposedly Boko Haram representative also told us they have agreed to a cease fire. He claims they were seeking forgiveness from the people over the number of people they have killed all over the country. This came to me as a surprise,and I became suspicious because I have never seen terrorist groups come out to beg and apologise. The best they can do is deny any attack.<\/p>\n
Boko Haram however confirmed my suspicion that this was another lie with the killings of twenty (or more) students and a teacher\u00a0 in Yobe. Abubakar Shekau while endorsing the killings denied ever entering into a cease fire whatsoever with the Federal Government. Hear Shekau in a video message said \u201cLet me assure you that we will not enter into any truce with these infidels,\u201d Shekau said. \u201cWe will not enter into any truce with the Nigerian government.\u201d \u201cWe believe in the massacre inflicted on the secondary school in Mamudo and Damaturu and other schools; we earlier warned that we were going to burn all schools,\u201d Shekau said. \u201cThey are schools purposely built to fight Islam.\u201dWhile Boko Haram doesn\u2019t attack \u201cchildren and young girls or old women,\u201d he said, \u201cTeachers that teach Western education, we are supposed to kill them in the presence of their students.\u201d<\/p>\n
Yesterday 29th of July 2013 at around 11pm I saw the news that there had been a blast at a bar at New road\/Enugu road at Sabon Gari Kano .In panic I called up my cousins and Uncle to confirm the news as well as find out that they are safe. It was true and thank God they are safe. The initial report was that close to eleven people died in the blast. My cousin however debunked this. Eleven how? He asked. According to him, he had gone there to see for himself and the death toll was way higher than what was reported. It was like the fourth time it was happening in Sabon Gari and they keep playing it down. We are not safe here anymore he continued. He was bitter. I was happy he and my other cousins were alive but saddened because of the lost lives. I even understand the militants were shooting people who tried to escape from the blast. I have been to Sabon Gari Kano and know how the environment is (especially at night). It feels like Lagos outside Lagos.<\/p>\n
With these recent bombing one is wont to ask what the situation is with tackling this menace. What is the Turaki Committee all about? Why will the committee be bold enough to feed us with lies? Is there a hidden agenda?<\/p>\n
That obviously looked like a ploy to get us all(including our troops)relaxed so Boko Haram could get a breather. I sincerely hope not.<\/p>\n
Why was the committee even set up in the first place. What is the committee’s job? Is this not another way to waste our resources,because it obviously is not going to yield any result.<\/p>\n
What is with the state of emergency that was declared? Are we sure we are getting any closer to capturing the leadership of the Boko Haram?Me thinks if we were,\u00a0 the killings in Yobe by the Boko Hram would not have happened .There was a State of Emergency declared in the state for crying out loud.<\/p>\n
It is quite unbelievable.Are our military forces well equip to fight Boko Haram?<\/p>\n
What’s the casualty rate? Are there more civilian deaths? We watched an interview on al jazeera,where one of the soldiers who did not want his face shown claimed that more civilians are being killed. I did not want to believe it as I thought it was propaganda, but we need to know the truth.
\nThe truth for once! How true is the claim?<\/p>\n
Where is Ibrahim Shekau? Is it true he has been rounded up or is it another lie? Does the federal government have a plan B? Boko Haram is very much still with us as the recent bombings in Kano has shown and we need more than lies and propaganda to keep them away.<\/p>\n

\nMinister of Power Mr Chinedum\u00a0 Nebo, I think should have spared us another lie by just sticking with\u00a0 his appeal to vandals while speaking at a ministerial platform in Abuja. While appealing to vandals to desist from their acts as their activities causes set back in the improvement of power supply, he claimed that power supply in the country has improved to 16 hours per day. Haba minister! This I found insulting to Nigerians. This is throwing mud at our faces. Mr Nebo\u2019s Nigeria is obviously not the one you and I the ordinary Nigerians live in.<\/p>\n
The amount of money one spends on fuel for generator to run ones power supply over the years, if put together will put up a business. An estimated 60 million or more Nigerians now use generators of varying sizes as their source of power supply spending 1.56 trillion Naira to fuel them annually and Mr Nebo is \u2018washing\u2019 us?<\/p>\n
Apologies El dee.\u00a0 Prof Sam Amadi, the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission Chairman even came out to confirm the fact that power supply here is not improving and that we must pay higher for what we are not getting.Hear him\u00a0 \u201cThe truth is that the electricity tariff must increase despite shortfalls in service delivery.\u201dWhy then should Minister Nebo lie to us?\u00a0 Nigerians will not complain if we had 16hours of electricity out of 24hours considering what we have seen over the years.<\/p>\n
It is nothing to be proud of considering where Nigeria is supposed to be as well as how far some of our neighbours have gone as regards power supply, but that is our lot.<\/p>\n
It is a bad thing to deny us the basic things of life. It is worse to make us pay higher for what we do not get served. But bearing false witness on Nigerians?Even the Bible forbids that.<\/p>\n
