Political associates of Taraba State governor, Mr. Danbaba Suntai have warned commentators on the political crisis in the state to stop comparing the governor to the late President Umaru Yar’Adua.<\/p>\n
Suntai’s associates said attempts at drawing a parallel between the governor and the late Yar’Adua was “wicked” and “in bad taste.”<\/p>\n
In a statement today, Suntai’s associates expressed amusement at what they described as “uncharitable” attacks by deputy governor Garba Umar, whom they accused of running a factional government in the state.<\/p>\n
The statement was signed by the immediate past Commissioner for Information and Culture, Hon. Emmanuel Bello.<\/p>\n
In the statement, Suntai’s associates argued that, apart the impropriety of comparing the living with the dead, the circumstances of the late Yar’Adua differed remarkably from Suntai’s.<\/p>\n
“Suntai had an accident. He is not suffering from a delibitating terminal illness. He is recuperating and getting stronger by the day. On return, Governor Suntai was not smuggled into Nigeria in the night. He came back by day, waving at his supporters,” argued Bello.<\/p>\n
“Suntai has since transmitted a letter, announcing his resumption, to the House of Assembly as provided for in the constitution,” stressed Bello, adding, “he has also addressed the state in a televised broadcast.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
