…Fixes Burial For Oct 4th<\/p>\n
The Ondo state Government has fixed\u00a0\u00a0 the 4th\u00a0 of\u00a0 October for the interment of the immediate past Governor of\u00a0 the state,\u00a0 Dr Olusegun Agagu whose death occurred on Friday the 13th of September.
\nIn a 3-day burial programme announced by the State’s Commissioner for Information\u00a0 Mr Kayode Akinmade,, the burial events will\u00a0 kick off\u00a0 at the International Conference Centre, University of\u00a0 Ibadan being the Tribute Day beginning from 11 am on the 30th of September.<\/p>\n
On the 3rd of October, the body of the late Politician will leave Lagos to arrive\u00a0 the Akure Airport by 9 in the morning, while\u00a0 the body will be\u00a0 lying -in- state\u00a0 at the Democracy Park Akure the state Capital Another\u00a0 lying- in -state cum wake -keep\u00a0 will take place on the same day beginning from 5pm at the Civic Centre Iju-Odo, Okitipupa Local Government A burial service will hold\u00a0 for the deceased on the Friday, 4th of October at St Paul’s Anglican Church, Iju-Odo also in\u00a0 Okitipupa Local Government\u00a0 by 11 am while the remains of the Late Dr Agagu will be interred at the same venue and\u00a0\u00a0 recception follows at Manuwa Memorial Grammar School in the same town.<\/p>\n
The state Governor, Dr OLusegun Mimiko had at a\u00a0 special prayer session for the state in\u00a0 Akure on Wednesday\u00a0\u00a0 charged\u00a0 the people of the state to troop out enmasse for the burial to honour\u00a0 his late Predecessor.<\/p>\n
The well attended meeting organised by the Christian Welfare Board and Christian Association of Nigeria, Ondo Chapter held at the Ondo State Cultural Centre Akure.<\/p>\n
Dr\u00a0 Mimiko had earlier\u00a0 declared a 7-Day of mourning\u00a0 in the state in honor of the late\u00a0 Agagu.<\/p>\n
Mimiko made the declaration on Sunday, during\u00a0 a condolence visit to the family of the deceased in\u00a0 his Ikoyi Lagos\u00a0 residence. He was\u00a0 accompanied by his wife Olukemi,\u00a0 members of the national and state assemblies and state executive council from the southern senatorial district and top government officials.<\/p>\n
The Governor was received by the younger brother to\u00a0 the late former Governor and his chief of staff, Mr Femi Agagu and members of the family. Speaking during the visit,\u00a0 Mimiko described the late Agagu as a colossus of intellectual and political capabilities, who\u00a0 achieved so much greatness in\u00a0 his life time. He also\u00a0 described\u00a0 demise of the former Governor as an irreparable loss to the people of Ondo state and Nigeria, considering his immense contributions to the state and national development during his tenure as minister, deputy governor and governor of the State.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
