The marriage of 72 year old\u00a0 Chairman of Champion Newspapers, Chief Emmanuel Iwuayanwun, to 22 year old Frances Enwerem has ripped his family apart.<\/p>\n
Iwuyanwun who\u00a0 lost his wife Eudora,\u00a0 in 2011, tied the knot with his very young bride two weeks ago at a traditional ceremony. The white wedding is scheduled for tomorrow at the Ikeduru diocese in Imo state, with a reception at\u00a0 an event center along Port Harcourt Road, Owerri.<\/p>\n
Pointblanknews.com sources hinted that the grown children of the high chief vehemently opposed the marriage because of the age difference.<\/p>\n
They vowed to boycott the ceremonies while the father threatened to disown them.<\/p>\n
Iwuayanwun has four daughters: Mrs Nwadiuto Iheakanma who is Managing Director of Champion Newspapers, Ezinne, Nnnene and Jidechi who is in the United States. They are all older than the new wife.<\/p>\n
He also has another son outside wedlock.<\/p>\n
Sources hinted that the father of the new bride, Chief Enwerem is a traditional ruler in the Ugiri autonomous community, in Mbano.\u00a0\u00a0 Iwuayanwun allegedly facilitated the creation of the autonomous community. The mother was a close to Iwuayanwun\u2019s late wife.<\/p>\n
The children, it was further gathered insisted that their father hooked some older lady preferably the woman who had a son for him outside wedlock.<\/p>\n
But when he insisted the children decided to boycott both the traditional and white wedding.<\/p>\n
Another drama is the decision of Iwuayanwun to hold the wedding at his local IkeduruAnglican Diocese, instead of the head quarters which is the Owerri Diocese.<\/p>\n
It was gathered that there had been no love lost between the Bishop in Owerri and Iwuyanwun because they finger him as the one who spearheaded the creation of the Ikeduru Diocese.<\/p>\n
Our source however said the decision to wed a much younger woman was taken because Iwuayanwun believes he is not in best of health and age not on his side, would need a much younger woman who would be able to take very good care despite the stress.<\/p>\n
It was also gathered that a flank of the family are not happy with the position of the children who are all grown and out of the house. A source contended \u201c it is very unfair on the man for the older children who have all left home to hold the old man to ran some. Who he marries is his choice, the woman is not under aged.
