Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has said though Nigeria is passing through tough times, the challenges confronting the nation are not insurmountable.<\/p>\n
He said as the country celebrates it\u2019s 53rd independence anniversary, all hands must be on deck to foster unity, peace and reconciliation.<\/p>\n
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Malam Imam Imam, Tambuwal said all Nigerians must work tirelessly to promote the tenets of democracy, good governance and responsible citizenry.<\/p>\n
He appealed to the political elite to moderate their utterances and be mindful of their responsibility to the country. He said with elections scheduled for 2015, all leaders must lay emphasis on executing the mandates given to them by Nigerians, not heating up the polity by engaging in unnecessary politicking when it not yet time for such endeavours.<\/p>\n
The Speaker reiterated his earlier calls that the people must isolate and expose all obstacles that hamper the attainment of peace, development, and progress of the nation.<\/p>\n
While congratulating Nigerians on the country\u2019s 53rd independence anniversary, Tambuwal restated the commitment of the House of Representatives to uphold the ideals of a united Nigeria which he said shall take its rightful place in the comity of nations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
