Senate President David Mark has assured that the senate would be throrough in investigating the circumstances sorrounding the September 20, 2013 killing of nine suspected insurgents in the Apo District, Abuja.<\/p>\n
“There will be no biases, no sentiments and\u00a0 we have no preconceived\u00a0 idea. All we are interested in is to get to the root of the matter. We are approaching the matter with an open mind in order to get the facts so that justice would be done”, Mark told the judiciary- intelligence committee probing the matter.<\/p>\n
A statement by Mark’s media aide, Mr. Paul Mumeh, said his boss assured that there would be no sacred cows, neither would the committee witch-hunt anybody.<\/p>\n
“This is\u00a0 not the time for blame game. It is time to find the facts. We must hear from all sides of the divide so that we can establish the truth and proffer solutions to the crises “, Mumeh quoted Senator Mark as saying.<\/p>\n
“He lamented the unabating cases of insurgents and reminded Nigerians that the war against terrorism is a collective fight of all if the battle must be won.<\/p>\n
“The current security situation has become”\u00a0 worrisome and\u00a0 intolerable because we are now in a society where we do not know who the terrorists are\u00a0 in our midst . This\u00a0 is absurd and totally alien to us. We can no longer understand ourselves. We need to tackle this menace headlong,” his boss told the committee.<\/p>\n
“The insurgents now have international connections. That is why everybody must work hard to tackle the menace\u00a0 before we are doomed”, Mark added.<\/p>\n
Earlier, the chairman of the joint investigating committee , Senator Mohammed\u00a0 Magoro\u00a0 stated that the committee would do its job honestly, justly , fairly and with the fear God.<\/p>\n
He said that all parties to the crises would be given fair hearing without bias, fear or favour.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
