The Kwara Government says it is set to commence its contributory pension scheme for civil servants in the state.<\/p>\n
The state Head of Service, Alhaji Dabarako Mohammed, said this in Ilorin on Wednesday while fielding questions from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).<\/p>\n
He said his office had put necessary machinery in motion for the approval by the authorities.<\/p>\n
Mohammed, who explained that the Federal Government had directed states to key into the pension scheme, added that it was a constitutional matter meant to enhance healthcare delivery.<\/p>\n
He said the state government as a matter of policy had ensured prompt payment of monthly pensions.<\/p>\n
“We also review pensions and gratuities along with the salaries of workers every five years,\u2019\u2019 he added.<\/p>\n
Mohammed said the verification exercise embarked upon for pensioners by the Federal Government was aimed at determining the number of those captured during the earlier exercise.<\/p>\n
He said that the exercise was embarked upon to ensure that no one was short changed or left out in the exercise.<\/p>\n
