The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has concluded plans to dump its
\ngubernatorial candidate for the November 16 2013 governorship election,
\nchief Willie Obiano over major controversies surrounding his emergence and
\ndouble registration in the voter registration exercise.<\/p>\n
Though the party\u2019s hierarchy has continued to deny the controversial
\ndouble registration which it claims was rather a mere transfer of Obiano\u2019s
\nvoter\u2019s card from Lagos to Anambra State,\u00a0 it was gathered that the
\nreported double registration of Obiano in Lagos where he had stayed as his
\noperation base and Anambra State, if\u00a0 found to be true will attract either
\nfine or a term of imprisonment.<\/p>\n
Anambra State Voter\u2019s\u00a0 Card\u00a0 VIN\u00a0 number 90f5B15E7D378 was said to have
\nbeen issued to Obiano on September 3,2013.<\/p>\n
According to sources, the shoddy manner in which his double registration
\nwas mishandled has made the party to look for an alternative candidate to
\ncarry the party\u2019s flag. Though Ekwunife\u2019s name dominated the discussion,
\nit was gathered that an option was made to have Dr. Chike Obidigbo to fly
\nthe party\u2019s flag in the election.<\/p>\n
But Obidigbo\u2019s name was eventually dropped, on account of the fact that
\nthe main stream national leadership of the party led by chief Victor Umeh
\ndid not endorse the primary that produced him.<\/p>\n
It was at this juncture that Ekwunife\u2019s name was thrown up as a possible
\ngubernatorial candidate f the party in the November 16, 2013 election.<\/p>\n
An\u00a0 impeccable source disclosed that Obiano is aware of the move to drop
\nhim , hence an emergency meeting of his Campaign Organization held at
\nParktonia\u00a0 Hotel, Awka, Tuesday, where the group begged that Obiano be
\nconsidered as the consensus candidate from the Anambra\u00a0 North Senatorial
\nzone, which is yet to produce a governor since 1991 the state was created.<\/p>\n
Already, intrigues appear to characterize the emergence of the governor of
\nthe State with\u00a0 a\u00a0 defeated\u00a0 gubernatorial aspirant\u00a0 in the All
\nProgressive Grand Alliance (APGA) primary, Hon, Uche Ekwunife warming up
\nand waiting for the disqualification of the party\u2019s flag bearer, chief
\nWillie Obiano.<\/p>\n
Ekwunife,\u00a0 Vice Chairman of\u00a0 House of Representatives Committee on
\nEnvironment scored\u00a0 158 votes to\u00a0 place second in the APGA\u00a0 August 26
\ngubernatorial primary won by late entrant, chief Umeano who emerged as the
\nflag bearer through courtesy of the party\u2019s machinery.<\/p>\n
Following the seeming foisting of Obiano, Ekwunife reportedly fumed at
\nwhat her camp regarded as an undemocratic process through which the APGA
\ncandidate was thrown up, a position that contrasts with her\u00a0 readiness to
\nsupport any competitor in all elections she contested and lost.<\/p>\n
Since the primary Ekwunife who went under after the emergence of Obiano,
