The Borno Government said on Thursday that it planned to renovate the Gwoza General Hospital to improve its condition.<\/p>\n
Gov. Kashim Shettima said this when he paid a courtesy visit to the palace of the Emir of Gwoza, Alhaji Idrissa Timta, in Gwoza, headquarters of Gwoza Local Government Area (LGA).<\/p>\n
Shettima expressed regret over the hospital’s current dilapidated condition.<\/p>\n
“We are going to award contract for a complete overhaul of the structures at the hospital.<\/p>\n
“We will also equip the hospital with the standard facilities befitting of its status as a general hospital,” he said.<\/p>\n
Shettima pointed out that the contract would be awarded in the next two months for work to commence.<\/p>\n
“We will insha Allah (by the grace of God) award contract for the renovation of the hospital in the next two months.<\/p>\n
“I believe that the project will be completed and commissioned in the next nine months so that individuals can start benefiting,” he said.<\/p>\n
Shettima also said government would soon award contract for the construction of the five kilometre Pulka-Kirewa road in the area.<\/p>\n
“We will start the process of the contract award for the road construction immediately so that work can commence after the rainy season,” he said.<\/p>\n
Shettima also promised to completely renovate the Government Secondary School, Gwoza.<\/p>\n
“I will like to apologise to the entire community for the government’s neglect of the school which has lots of historical background.<\/p>\n
“We will renovate the school and provide modern facilities to provide conducive teaching and learning atmosphere,” he said.<\/p>\n
Shettima directed the Commissioner for Education to forward a proposal for the renovation of the school.<\/p>\n
“Insha Allah, we will award the contract for the school renovation immediately after the Ramadan fast.<\/p>\n
“I must say that we are going to restrict ourselves to a local contractor so we can have an excellent job,” he said.<\/p>\n
Shettima, however, added that government would not be able to begin work on the Gwoza-Damboa Road this year due to paucity of funds.<\/p>\n
Responding, the royal father commended the governor for his achievements since assuming office in 2011.<\/p>\n
He appealed to the government to reconstruct the Gwoza-Damboa road which was in bad shape to allow for easy evacuation of farm produce. (NAN)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
