As a measure of its growing influence in the continent, Dangote Group has
\nemerged among Africa\u2019s top 10 most valuable brands in 2013 in a survey
\nconducted by African Business Magazine, a pan-African business magazine.<\/p>\n
In a survey tagged \u2018The Brand Africa 100 table\u2019, Dangote emerged as the
\nmost valuable brand in the consumer goods sector with an African brand
\nvalue of 216.\u00a0 However, the brand emerged the 8th most valuable brand when
\nplaced against brands from other sectors.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Brand Africa 100\u201d table was established in 2011, in recognition of
\nthe growth of\u00a0 African brands, which were beginning to challenge global
\nbrands in Africa or lead global brands in new categories such as
\ntelecommunications.<\/p>\n
Commenting on the recognition of Dangote brand, the magazine stated that:
\n\u201c\u2026But what is perhaps a little more suprising is that Dangote, the largest
\nmanufacturing conglomerate in West Africa, and Globacom, the Nigeria-based
\ntelecommunication provider, are also in the lists. Both brands have
\nmanaged to win the hrarts of the communities in which they operate.\u201d<\/p>\n
Declaring brands as an asset, the magazine stated that the aim of Brand
\nAfrica 100 is to identify, acknowledge and promote African and global
\nbrands that are catalysts for Africa\u2019s growth, reputation and value.<\/p>\n
Explaining its method at arriving at the brands\u2019 ranking said \u201cthe study
\ninvolved a comprehensive research among consumers 18 years and older,
\nliving in representative countries in metropolitan sub-Saharan Africa
\nregions to draw up a list of the most admired African and global brands in
\nAfrica.\u00a0\u00a0 Each respondent was asked to mention the five local and global
\nbrands they admired.<\/p>\n
Dangote\u2019s emergence did not come as a surprise to industry watchers. The
\nbrand has steadily increased its influence in many African nations through
\nestablishment of cement factories. It operates in about 13 African nations
