The Federal Government has commenced the payment of the arrears of three
\nmonths stipend owed the 3,000 beneficiaries of the Subsidy Re-Investment
\nProgramme (SURE-P) Community Services, Youths and Women Employment Scheme
\nin Ekiti State.<\/p>\n
Chairman and Coordinator of the State Implementation Committee of the
\nSURE-P in Ekiti State, Rt. Hon. Femi Akinyem, who made this known in a
\nrelease issued today, said one month stipend of N10, 000 had already been
\npaid into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.<\/p>\n
He assured that the remaining two months arrears will be cleared before
\nthe end of next week.<\/p>\n
A few weeks ago, Akinyemi had during the SURE-P Stakeholders meeting in
\nthe three Senatorial Districts of Ekiti State assured the beneficiaries of
\ntheir payment saying; \u201cPresident Goodluck Jonathan is a promise keeper,
\nwho will never go back on his promises and on this SURE-P programme, all
\nentitlements of our beneficiaries will be paid.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Chairman said; \u201cNow, Ekiti people should begin to ask those peddling
\nthe wicked rumour that the Federal Government no longer have fund to pay
\nthe beneficiaries where they got their information from and the reason
\nthey were spreading the rumour.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is because on Tuesday, SURE-P beneficiaries in Ekiti State started
\nreceiving \u2018Goodluck credit alert\u2019 and by this time of next week, they must
\nhave been paid the three months arrears being owed them.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Federal Government is also going to embark on training of the
\nbeneficiaries before the end of the one year so that by the time they exit
\nfrom the programme, they will have something doing.<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter the training, they will be empowered to start their own trade so
\nthat they can be self-reliant and also become employers of labour.\u201d<\/p>\n
He expressed gratitude to President Godluck Jonathan for the SURE-P scheme
\nsaying; \u201cNo doubt, Ekiti youths are enjoying the transformation agenda of
