For “desperately coaxing PDP governors” and celebrating mere discussions
\nwith them, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has berated the APC,
\ndescribing it as \u201ca hypocritical party lacking in genuine ideology and
\nprinciples.\u201d<\/p>\n
The PDP, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa
\nMetuh, said \u201cby wooing PDP governors the APC has also confirmed that it
\nlacked true followership and electable materials at all levels hence its
\ndesperate bid to poach from the PDP.\u201d<\/p>\n
The ruling party said the APC has shown that it is nothing but \u201ca party
\nof hypocrites driven by desperate and blind quest for power and not by
\nany ideology geared towards serving the interest of the people.\u201d<\/p>\n
Stating that the bid to poach will not yield any meaningful result, the
\nruling party said it “is instead the normal practice for politically
\ninformed persons to move from parochial parties such as the APC to a
\nnational party with robust ideology and agenda such as the PDP and not
\nvice versa.”<\/p>\n
\u201cIn turning around to woo members of the PDP, a party it has continued
\nto castigate, the APC has shown the height of hypocrisy and ultimately
\nconfirms to Nigerians that it has nothing to offer and truly lacked
\ngenuine ideology and principle. The APC has shown\u00a0 that it lacks genuine
\nfollowership and electable materials. Otherwise why would it be
\ndesperate to poach from the PDP? Why would it celebrate and dramatize
\nmere discussions with three or four aggrieved governors of the PDP?<\/p>\n
\u201cIn any case, what else would one expect from a party borne out of lust
\nfor power. Nigerians are aware that the APC is nothing but a party of
\nstrange bed fellows united only by their inordinate quest and
\ndesperation for power. It is clear to all that what we have in the APC
\nis a gathering of hypocrites and despots whose only interest is to rule
\nand lord it over Nigerians. What the APC forgets is that Nigerians are
\nno fools and cannot be deceived by\u00a0 its antics\u201d<\/p>\n
The statement however said the PDP is not perturbed by the actions of
\nthe opposition adding that \u201cno genuine member of the PDP will opt for
\nthe APC\u201d, which it described as a party given to religious bigotry and
\npromotion of violence and divisions among Nigerians.<\/p>\n
\u201cJoining the APC is to join in promoting divisions among Nigerians. This
\nis a party of religious bigots who have continued to fan the embers of
\nreligious fanatism, ethnicism, dissensions and general social
\nintolerance among Nigerians. Joining the APC is to join in expanding the
\nactivities of oppressive feudal lords such as Asiwaju Bola Tibunu who
\nhas turned Lagos and some southwest states into his personal estates and
\nis now busy imposing leaders, looting state funds, converting state
\nowned property to personal belongings and milking the citizens with high
\ntaxes to finance his wasteful lifestyle.\u201d<\/p>\n
The PDP however reassured that \u201cas the only truly national party,
\ncommanding genuine followership across the country, it will continue to
\nbe wholly committed to the national interest and the unity of the
\ncountry in line with the principles of equity and justice as
\nencapsulated in the PDP ideology and manifesto\u201d<\/p>\n
The party also commended President Goodluck Jonathan for \u201chis humility
\nand the calmness he has exhibited in the face of provocations and
\nunwarranted vituperations and attacks by the opposition. Describing such
\nas \u201ca mark of a true statesman\u201d, the party said some other leaders would
\nnot have accepted such.<\/p>\n
It therefore urged Nigerians to continue to support the President and
